Planning Ahead (Part 1)

January 26, 2025

OPENING SCRIPTURE: You can make many PLANS, but the Lord’s PURPOSE will prevail. (Proverbs 19:21 NLT)

• You plan and leave the rest up to God.
• Planning ahead is biblical.

YOU will always HARVEST what YOU PLANT. (Galatians 6:7 NLT)

• A farmer plans ahead when he puts the seeds into the soil.
• Promotion unless a worker plants the seeds of hard work
• A church cannot fulfill its mission unless seeds are planted in the Kingdom of God.

You can make many PLANS, but the Lord’s PURPOSE will prevail. (Proverbs 19:21 NLT)

This verse presents us with a challenge. A challenge to trust God’s sovereignty.

Planning ahead has a few requirements:

#1 STAY IN ALIGNMENT

Relationship: Planning ahead requires an alignment between you and God.

Take DELIGHT in the Lord, and HE will give you your heart’s desires. (Psalm 37:4 NLT)

• DELIGHT in the Lord means TRUST in the Lord.
There is alignment when you trust God with everything in your life.
When God drives, your desires to do this and that will come from Him.

#2 MOVE IN SYNC

We can MAKE OUR PLANS, but the LORD DETERMINES OUR STEPS. (Proverbs 16:9 NLT)

• Planning Ahead requires movement. Movement that is in sync with God’s plan.

Let your movement be synchronized with his voice, his word.

MY SHEEP LISTEN TO MY VOICE; I know them, and they follow me. (John 10:27 NLT)

• Your movement is synchronized to the sound of his voice.
• His voice will never contradict His written word.

YOUR OWN EARS WILL HEAR HIM. Right behind you A VOICE will say, “THIS IS THE WAY YOU SHOULD GO,” whether to the RIGHT or to the LEFT. (Isaiah 30:21 NLT)

• God will always use His word to confirm, affirm, lead and guide

#3 THE BIG PICTURE

As you plan ahead, know that only God has the exclusive right to the big picture of your life.

My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord. “And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine.” (Isaiah 55:8-9 NLT)

• God’s plans often appear like detours, but they always lead to better destination.
• Trust that God sees the full picture, even when our plans seem more appealing or logical.

#4 FULFILMENT NOT FRUSTRATION

God’s purpose will always bring fulfillment and never frustration.

“And we know that GOD CAUSES EVERYTHING TO WORK TOGETHER FOR THE GOOD of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.” (Romans 8:28 NLT)

• God causes EVERYTHING to work together for the good. God’s purpose will always position you for fulfilment.

Why? Because He is Good!

“For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” (Jeremiah 29:11 NLT)

• While we may struggle to see the good in our circumstances, we can trust that God’s purpose is for our ultimate blessing.
• When we align our plans with His, we experience peace, hope, and purpose.
