Planning Ahead (Part 2)

March 2, 2025

Theme Scripture:

You can make many PLANS, but the Lord’s PURPOSE will prevail. (Proverbs 19:21 NLT)

• Make plans but allow God to have the final say.
• Planning ahead requires an alignment between you and God, between your plans and his purpose.

OPENING SCRIPTURE:

We can MAKE OUR PLANS, but the LORD DETERMINES OUR STEPS. (Proverbs 16:9 NLT)

• Our movement is determined by this: ONE STEP
• Not giant LEAP but simply ONE STEP.

Do not despise these small beginnings (steps), for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin (Zechariah 4:10 NLT)

• BIG DREAMS start with ONE SMALL STEP.

#1 ONE STEP ACTIVATES FAITH

“For we WALK BY FAITH, not by sight.” – 2 Corinthians 5:7 (NKJV)

• Faith requires movement – ONE STEP
• God often reveals the next step only after we take the first one.

Then Peter called to him, “Lord, if it’s really you, TELL ME TO COME TO YOU, WALKING ON THE WATER.” “YES, COME,” Jesus said. So Peter went over the side of the boat and WALKED ON THE WATER TOWARD JESUS. (Matthew 14:28-29 NLT)

Peter had to take that one step out of the boat before he could experience the miracle.

You don’t need to see the whole path—just take the first step and trust God to guide you.

#2 ONE STEP BREAKS FEAR

“FEAR NOT, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you.” – Isaiah 41:10 (NKJV)

Fear holds many people back from experiencing God’s best. But when you take one step in, your experience breakthrough.

Then the Lord said to Moses, “Why are you crying out to me? Tell the people to GET MOVING! Pick up your staff and raise your hand over the sea. Divide the water so the Israelites can walk through the middle of the sea on dry ground. (Exodus 14:15-16 NLT)

The sea didn’t part until they moved.

Fear will keep you stagnant, but one step of courage can break its hold.

#3 ONE STEP INVITES GOD’S DIRECTION

The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord (Psalm 37:23 NKJ)

• Destinies are defined by day-to-day decisions. ONE STEP
• God directs us as we move. If we refuse to take a step, we miss divine guidance.

The Lord had said to Abram, “Leave your native country, your relatives, and your father’s family, and go to the land that I will show you. (Genesis 12:1 NLT)

• No direction. No destination. Only a command to step out in faith.
• As he moved, God revealed the next steps.

Take That One Step Today

• One step activates faith – Move, and God will respond.
• One step breaks fear – Move, and fear will lose its grip.
• One step invites God’s direction – Move, and He will show you the way.
