OPENING SCRIPTURE:
God is higher than anything and anyone, outshining everything you can see in the skies. Who can compare with God, our God, so majestically enthroned, Surveying his magnificent heavens and earth? (Psalm 113:4-6 MSG)
Our God is greater than our highest highs and greater than our lowest lows.
#1 GREATER THAN YOUR THOUGHTS AND WAYS
“My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord. “And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts. (Isaiah 55:8-9 NLT)
• “My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts, says the Lord.”
• They are higher. They are greater.
• No need to overthink.
When you overthink, you are placing your thoughts over or above God’s thoughts.
• You are putting a higher value on your thoughts.
• When you put a higher value on your thoughts, you put a greater target on your back…it’s called pride.
• Pride says I know better because I am an overthinker.
• Humility says Lord you know better! Help me to trade my thoughts for yours.
If you think a certain way, you will go a certain way.
Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life. (Proverbs 4:23 NLT)
If you think a certain way, you will see yourself in a certain way.
For as he thinks in his heart, so is he. (Proverbs 23:7 NKJ)
#2 GREATER THAN YOUR IMAGE
You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. (1 John 4:4 NKJ)
Not how great you are, but how great He is in you!
Do you see yourself as a reflection of Christ? Fearfully and wonderfully made.
I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works,
And that my soul knows very well. (Psalm 139:14 NKJ)
Do you see yourself as a reflection of Christ? Not rejected but accepted
Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us. (Romans 5:1)
#3 GREATER THAN YOUR PLANS
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. (Jeremiah 29:11 NIV)
• I have carefully developed and prepared a plan for your life.
• My plan is very detailed.
• My plan is to prosper you.
• My plan is to protect you from harm.
Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. (Jeremiah 29:12-13 NIV)
• My plan is like a journey where you get to know me intimately. You will call upon my name and I will answer you.
• You will hear my voice, you will recognize my voice in the midst of chaos.
My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. (John 10:27-28 NLT)
#4 GREATER THAN YOUR MOUNTAINS
So Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God. For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them. (Mark 11:21-24 NKJ)
• Take ownership of the road God has placed you on.
• That’s my road! My faith is in my God! I will speak to those mountains!
