Opening Scripture: John 1:14, 16-17
And the Word (Jesus) became flesh (Human) and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, FULL OF GRACE and truth.
And of His fullness (abundance or overflow) we have all received, and GRACE FOR GRACE (Abundance of Grace). For the law was given through Moses, but GRACE and truth came through Jesus Christ.
What do we know about Grace?
Grace is unmerited, undeserved, free
God saved you by HIS GRACE when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is A GIFT from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things (WORKS) we have done, so none of us can boast about it. (Ephesians 2:8,9)
- Unmerited: It won’t be your good deeds that got you there
- Undeserved: We are all guilty of sin, but grace puts us in good standing with God
- Free: It’s a gift! You don’t have to pay for it. You did not earn it
Grace Points to the Father
Jesus told him, “I AM THE WAY, the truth, and the life. No one can come TO THE FATHER except through me” (John 14:6)
- It’s not like there are many ways and Jesus is just one of them. Jesus is THE WAY
- Without the grace of God, we are lost because we can never find our way to the Father
Grace is the Power of God in us
And with GREAT POWER the apostles gave witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And GREAT GRACE WAS UPON THEM ALL. (Acts 4:33)
- Great Power comes from Great Grace! Grace is the power of God in you!
- Grace is God’s enabling power in us to live a victorious and Godly life
Can we ever run out of grace? NO
Let us therefore COME BOLDLY to the THRONE OF GRACE, that we may obtain mercy and FIND GRACE to help in time of need. (Hebrews 4:16)
